As part of its ongoing commitment to community empowerment, PT Phoenix Resources International (PRI) continues to deliver impactful initiatives through its Community Development (Comdev) Program.
In its latest initiative, the Comdev team at the pulp manufacturing company has taken active steps to support the local economy by empowering surrounding communities.
This recent program focused on housewives who are members of the Kembang Dahlia Women Farmers Group in Juata Permai Subdistrict, North Tarakan, Tarakan City.
The training aimed to develop Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by equipping over a dozen participants with skills in agricultural cultivation and value-added food processing, specifically in producing local snacks.
Participants received hands-on training on how to make various vegetable-based snacks such as bitter melon chips, papaya chips, and sweet-spicy banana chips. The training was held at the Snack Production Center in Kampung Empat, East Tarakan, a facility supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Fisheries.
This program, conducted on June 25, 2025, was made possible through close collaboration with the Tarakan City Government, particularly the Department of Industry and Manpower and the Department of Agriculture and Food Security.
