Company Profile: PT Phoenix Resources International (PRI)
PT Phoenix Resources International (PRI) is an Indonesian company engaged in the production of pulp, utilizing raw materials sourced from Industrial Plantation Forests (HTI), specifically eucalyptus and acacia wood. The company is firmly committed to not using natural forest wood in its production process.
PRI was established to leverage the abundant availability of plantation timber in Kalimantan and to support the Indonesian government’s downstream processing initiative aimed at increasing value-added production and boosting foreign exchange earnings. The company’s pulp products are intended for export, contributing directly to national revenue.
PRI prioritizes sourcing from HTI companies that have obtained at least the PHPL (Sustainable Production Forest Management) and SVLK (Timber Legality Verification System) certifications issued by the Ministry of Forestry. Additional value is placed on suppliers holding PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) accreditation.
Beyond its commercial objectives, PRI is committed to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs across education, healthcare, environmental stewardship, religious activities, and socio-economic development.
The presence of PT PRI is also intended to create employment opportunities, increase local government revenue (PAD) for the City of Tarakan, and drive economic growth in both Tarakan and the broader North Kalimantan region.
